The National Basketball Association have fined Aubrey McClendon, Seattle SuperSonics co-owner $250,000 for comments he said 2 weeks ago relating to moving the team.Mark Broussard, NBA spokesman confirmed the penalty on Thursday, but admitted he didn’t know the reason for the fine. McClendon’s comments obviously conflicted with NBA Commissioner David Stern‘s plan of keeping the Sonics in the city they have been representing for 40 years.
McClendon is part of a group of four who purchased the SuperSonics and WNBA’s Storm for $350 million in July 2006. He told an Oklahoma newspaper previously that he had always hoped to move the team to Oklahoma, but knew they could make more money in Pacific North-West. Clay Bennett and McClendon later issued a joint statement claiming them to be McClendon’s “personal thoughts“, and that he wasn’t speaking “On behalf of the company owners“.
If it were up to you, would the SuperSonics stay in Seattle or move to OKlahoma?
