India Out Paces China as Growth Boosts BHP Billiton Sales

The largest mining company in the world, BHP Billiton, has said that growth in its sales is due to massive increase in demand from India.

BHP Billiton also said that India was outpacing China in terms of increased demand for metals and other raw materials.

BHP Billiton now has higher sales in India than it did 6 years ago in China, although China accounts for a fifth of BHP Billiton’s revenue.

The government in India is going to spend up to $450 billion by 2012 to build new roads, ports and power stations and accelerate growth to 10 percent from an average 8.6 percent in the past four years. BHP Billiton said that they have $50 billion in projects in India to help meet this rising demand.
