All cars to have side airbags
A new regulation on cars mandates that all new vehicles are to have side airbags; this will be forced in as a new regulation by the federal government. Not only will side airbags become standard, but also how much area the bags will have to cover if they are deployed.

The reason for the law for airbags to cover more area is due to the fact that some side airbags deploy far too low, this is very dangerous when you are involved in an accident with an SUV as it is much higher than a standard car. Automakers have already set themselves a deadline by 2009, which they imposed themselves. The government hopes that by the change in this rule, over 1,000 lives could be saved every year.
