The USA beat Venezuela in a game that saw Carmelo Anthony score 17 points, and Kobe Bryant 14 points, ending in a 112-69 victory on Wednesday night. Lebron James, who finally made his much anticipated international debut in the opener of the FIBA Americas Tournament had several words on their success, “We shared the ball well. We did everything that we needed to do to win a basketball game.”
Michael Redd also scored 17 points, and Phoneix Suns player Amara Stoudemire racked up another 16. The USA were firmly in control from half way through, when the score was 54-34. With this performance on the mind, it is suprising the USA were even required to qualify, but since they did not win the World Championship, it was necessary.
So can the USA go all the way in the FIBA Americas tournament? Keep checking back for updates.
