By: Phil | August 23, 2007
Playing against the Baltimore Orioles recently, the Texas Rangers provided fans with the biggest offensive outburst seen in MLB in 110 years!Marlon Byrd and Travis Metcalf both managed grand slams in the 30-1 defeat, which was game 1 of a doubleheader at Camden Yards. Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Ramon Vazquez both hit 2 home runs each. Game 2 of the doubleheader ended 9-7 to the Rangers, earning them their 39 run record. It surpassed the Boston Red Sox’s 29 runs on June 8th 1950, which was also matched by the Chicago White Sox on April 23rd 1955, against the Kansas City Athletics.
Rangers manager Ron Washington called thematch outcome awesome, explaining that “The whole offense just came to life. I’ve never seen anything like it. I was hoping we would open up offensively but I wasn’t expecting anything like that.”
So, how long until the record is next broken!?
