Chicago Weather thunderstorms and tornados
This afternoon the windy city of Chicago has had some severe weather, from bad thunderstorms and some witnesses say that they saw tornados as well. The bad weather has slammed into Chicago where it was damaging buildings, as well as tearing down power lines and even uprooting trees.

The powerful storm that has hit Chicago had had winds reaching speeds of over 80mph, early indications report that West Chicago fared the worst from the storm. At an industrial park on Roosevelt Road a roof collapsed, which injured 40 people where 7 had to go to hospital. Although the National Weather Service has yet to confirm this, people in Chicago reported seeing a funnel cloud, or what most of us call a tornado.

If you are from that area, did you see a Tornado?

I am from a suburb just outside of Chicago called Lombard. The devastation there was just absolutely mind boggling. I know 310,000 people were out of power. Luckily we were only out of power for about 40 hours, while others still wait to be brought back up, now 72 hours after the fact! I didn’t see the funnel cloud, but my mom who works for the village, was in the Emergency Operations Center at the time, and the National Weather Service operates in that room, so they said there were confirmed sightings of a funnel cloud in a town called winfield, about 15 minutes from my house, and coming right for us.
