Many of the front runners for the upcoming 2008 presidential elections are using books to fuel their campaign. A book to a possible future president is a tool which should not be underestimated for it hasmany purposes. It offers politicians a means to promote views in greater detail and set the record straight for any possible rumors.

Although, most candidates start writing, it is only the favored few which are ranked high enough in the polls that make any money out of publishing.

Hillary Rodham Clinton was given an $8 million book deal for her book “Living History,” and has gained over $1.2 million in book royalties since the book was published back in 2003

Other president hopeful Barack Obama who received a $425,000 advance against royalties for “The Audacity of Hope”. It was a best seller for weeks, and has now sold in excess of 1 million copies.

Is spending large amounts of money on these elaborate presidential campaigns really necessary?
