Eva Mendes

A week after we announced Scarlett Johansson had been cast in Frank Miller’s big screen adaptation of The Spirit, it seems that there has been another sexy siren added to the cast. The gorgeous Eve Mendes has been will play Sand Saref, the only woman who would break the Spirit’s heart. Sand’s father was accidentally killed by the Spirit’s uncle, which ended their teenage romance.

Bill Pope has also been announced as the film’s cinematographer. Pope has been the director on some legendary cinematic projects including: Darkman, Army of Darkness, The Matrix Trilogy, Wild, Wild West and Team America.

Miller has said he will utilize the same digital background technology he used in the awesome Sin City and 300. The film will start shooting the movie in October for a late 2009 release.
