Penelope Cruz to Star In Rob Marshall’s Nine?

Casting has begun for Rob Marshall’s (Chicago) second big screen film, Nine. The project looks set to be one of the most culturally diverse musicals since I don’t know when and starts Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem and Marion Cotillard.

Nine is a musical re-interpretation of the 80’s hit Broadway show 8 ½. Javier Bardem has been offered the role of Guido Contini, a director who is experiencing creative trouble while trying to juggle the numerous women in his life. Cotillard is in talks to play his wife and Penelope Cruz, his mistress.

Marshall also wants to reunite with Chicago star Catherine Zeta Jones, who will play the director’s muse and wants Sophia Loren for the role of Contini’s mother.
