No Blue-ray Shrek 3 or Transformers: DreamWorks & Paramount choose HD-DVD

DreamWorks Animation and Paramount Pictures have announced that, from now on, they will exclusively support the HD-DVD format. This is bad news for Blue-Ray, there will be no Blue-Ray version of Shrek 3 or Transformers.
It’s not all bad news though, Spielberg directed movies such as the Indiana Jones trilogy will remain in multi-format form. CEO and Chairman Brad Grey has said, ““I believe HD-DVD is not only the affordable high quality choice for consumers, but also the smart choice for Paramount,”.
“We decided to release ‘Shrek the Third’ and other DreamWorks Animation titles exclusively on HD-DVD because we believe it is the best format to bring high quality home entertainment to a key segment of our audience - families,” said CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg.
What do you think of DreamWorks Animation and Paramount’s decision to exclusively use HD-DVD for their films?

It is bad enough that these companies are in some kind of a pissing contest. Now we have the studios in a pissing contest as well. It looks like the HD-DVD camp is getting pretty desparate when they have to pay studios $150.000.000 to get exclusive rights to their movies. So much for the consumer. It will probably end up as a nich market and the only thing that will survive is the standard DVD. It is time to screw the consumer again.
