September Dawn is the upcoming film by Christopher Cain, due to be released on August 24th 2007. The film sets a fictional love story against the historical tragedy of the Mountain Meadows Massacre of September 11, 1857, when a wagon train of emigrants was attacked by a group of Mormon militiamen and Paiute Indians and more than 120 men, women and children were killed.
The film’s cast includes Jon Voight, Terence Stamp and Jon Gries. The fictional love story between Emily Hudson (played by Tamara Hope), the daughter of the wagon train’s pastor, and Jonathan Samuelson, the son of the local Mormon bishop, plays out against the build-up to the massacre and the tragedy itself.
Talking about the play, screenplay writer Carol Whang Schutter said, “Creating likeable characters that take part in unimaginably atrocious acts is a chilling reminder that terrorists can be anyone who chooses to blindly follow fanatical, charismatic leaders.[...] Our fight is not against certain religions [but...] ‘powers of darkness’ which are prejudice, hate, ignorance, and fear perpetuated by leaders who history will surely judge by their deeds.”
The movie has had mixed reviews from critics and it remains to be seen whether the fans respond to it well. Make sure you leave your comments about the film once you’ve seen it!

The Brigham Romney campaign has one of 2007’s most powerful internet “war machines”, and it was chomping at the bit to decimate SEPTEMBER DAWN as soon as it hit the theaters. And, it SUCCEEDED!! BIG TIME!!
The movie is actually a pretty good movie, and the license it supposedly takes with the facts is nowhere as great as Brigham Romney and other LDS attackers have alleged –especially given the fact that the LDS has had 150 years to shape and reshape the coverup.
