Diary of a Mad Black Woman

Diary of a Mad Black Woman was Tyler Perry’s successful 2005 film adaptation of the play with the same name. The movie starred Kimberly Elise, Shemar Moore, Cicely Tyson, Steve Harris and Perry himself.

The movie follows Helen McCarter, a woman who has everything a woman could want: a nice house and a rich husband. However, her husband throws her out of the house after admitting to an affair. Helen turns to her mother, grandmother Madea and cousin Brian for help. They take her in and turn her back to God. Helen then learns to stand up on her own two feet and is ready to move on from her failed relationship. When her husband is almost killed by a vengeful client, Helen wonders if she has the heart to forgive him despite all he’s done.
