The infamous hurricane Dean is currently on course for Jamaica and is set to hit category 5 hurricane status before moving into the Gulf.
Due to hurricane Dean, the oil giant Shell has been forced to evacuate positions in the Gulf, evacuating over 460 people since the beginning of this week and 300 Shell workers are being evacuated today because of hurricane Dean.
Shell has released this statement regarding the hurricane Dean evacuation:
“Since the beginning of the week, Shell has evacuated approximately 460 people, with approximately 300 scheduled to be evacuated today. Evacuations are expected to continue through the weekend.”

Business has been affected as well as hurricane Dean has also forced Shell to close down production facilities. This means that 10,000 barrels of oil and over 15 million cubic feet of natural gas is not being produced everyday and this is expect to last for as long as hurricane Dean remains a threat.
Do you think Shell was right to evacuate due to hurricane Dean?
