Jack Hamilton Still Denies He Hit Tony Conigliaro With a Spitter
August 18, 2007 | Filed under News, Sports News
It has been 40 years since the California Angels right handed pitcher, Jack Hamilton, hit Tony Conigliaro with a ball Jack Hamilton has always claimed he did not spit on.
However now a different story is emerging from one of the old baseball team mates of Jack Hamilton.
The shortstop Jim Fregosi has said: “To me, it looked like it could have been a spitball. The way the ball rode in on Tony Conigliaro, I thought it was a spitter.”
But Jack Hamilton still denies that the pitch he threw at Tony Conigliaro was a spitter. If it was, it will just show how little baseball has changed.
When speaking about the Tony Conigliaro incident, Jack Hamilton said: “I liked Jim and liked playing with him, but he wouldn’t know what I was throwing. I only threw a spitter once in a great while, when nothing else was working. I was pitching pretty good that night.”
Do you think Jack Hamilton pitched a spitter at Tony Conigliaro?
After all these years, does the Tony Conigliaro and Jack Hamilton incident really matter any more?
