Tyler Perry was born on September 13 1969 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a playwright and actor, best known for producing melodramas for the stage which feature African-American characters in moral predicaments.
His best known character, played by Tyler himself, is Mabel Simmons (Madea) who is an overbearing, well-intentioned woman who serves as comic relief and the loud voice of conscience that so many of us try to ignore.
Tyler’s new film, titled Why Did I Get Married? Is a film adaptation written and directed by Perry himself. The film was inspired by the play of the same name. The story follows the difficulty of maintaining a solid love relationship in modern times.
Eight married college friends, during a trip to the mountains of Colorado, have gathered for their annual seven-day reunion. The cosy mood is shattered when the group comes face-to-face with a pair’s infidelity. Secrets begin to unfold and each couple starts questioning the validity of their own marriage.
The film, starring Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Richard T. Jones, Sharon Leal and Perry himself will be released in the U.S on October 12, 2007. You can view the trailer below.
