EBay loses $1bln as Skype Scandal Continues
By: Daniel Chubb | August 17, 2007 | Leave a CommentShares in eBay closed down $0.89 for a loss of 2.58%, going against the trend in NASDAQ stocks which went on a small rally.
This recent decline in eBay stock has seen over $1 billion wiped from eBay’s market cap.
This billion dollar fall comes after VOIP provider Skype, which is owned by eBay, was left crippled after an outrage that swept through the Skype system.
This Skype scandal has last 18 hours so far with Skype saying nothing but claiming “sign-on problems”. However Skype had to issue an denial of rumour that were going round saying the Skype has been hacked.
As a personal user of Skype, I have noticed this poor service as Skype loses connection every few mins.
