YouTube is one of the largest online video sharing websites in the world. It was launched in early 2005 and quickly became one of the dominant players in the online video market.

YouTube was acquired by internet giant Google for US$1.65 billion in October 2006.

So long as you have a YouTube user account, you can upload videos to YouTube for free in AVI MOV and MPG formats. Videos are limited in size, current restrictions are 100mb in total for one video. After the video is upload, YouTube converts it into flash format, so that the clip loads and plays quicker for other YouTube users. As well as viewing videos on YouTube, one can also embed YouTube videos on other website for free.

Registered YouTube user can comment on videos or post a video response. As well as video website YouTube is also an online community as user can add friends, subscribe to channels and join YouTube groups.
