Dred Author: A Tale of the Great Dismal Swamp is Harriet Beecher Stowe

Many people have been asking who the author of Dred: A Tale of the Great Dismal Swamp and the answer to that question is Harriet Beecher Stowe. This was the second book from Harriet and was published way back in 1856.

The book was first published in two volumes by Phillips, Sampson and Company; the book did not sell as well as her previous book Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Dred was different than the Uncle Tom book, as it was more of a documentary in book form.
