Wild Hogs is a comedy about four middle-aged suburban men in Cincinnati who find themselves gradually getting frustrated with the pace of everyday life. Woody (Travolta) is a once successful business man who is now alone and bankrupt, Doug (Allen) is a dentist who can’t connect with his son and missed his college days, Bobby (Martin Lawrence) is a plumber who is bossed around by his wife and Dudley (William H. Macy) is a computer geek who wants, or needs, to find a woman.

The four embark on a cross-country road trip on their bikes to put the “wow” back in their lives. Armed with their Harley-Davidsons and Leather Jackets (appliquéd with “Wild Hogs”) they set off for an adventure filled with fun, frolics and fire!

Wild Hogs is bought home by Disney in a 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 encode framed at the films original 2:35:1 theatrical aspect ratio. Simply put, they’ve got the presentation down to a T. The movie has a bright, slick look that could give the Harley’s shiny chrome a run for it’s money.

The source is pristine without a speck of grain on the print. The Blacks are rock solid with perfect contrast and a natural look that delivers depth without leaving the movie looking unrealistic.

The Blu-ray delivers an uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround mix at a full 48kHz/24-bit/6.9mbps and makes the film sound as good as it ever will. There is no sustained ambiance on the DVD except for the natural sounds, but the rears are frequently engaged with bleed from the fronts. The track is expertly recorded and every sound effect used sounds realistic and natural. Dialogue has to be classed as the winner as it is perfectly balances in the mix and there are no volume problems.

All in all the Blu-ray release does the film justice. For those who didn’t quite connect with it at the cinema, please watch it on Blu-ray, you’ll have a new appreciation for it. Disney have delivered a perfect transfer and soundtrack.
