  1. Joseph J. Ilacqua says:

My fondest memories of scooter are unlimited but the circumstances that stand out to me is how much my Dad, who also passed recently resembled scooter. They even had the same sense of humor. It must be the little “dago” in them although my dad did not appreciate that billing.I believe this gave me a sense of closeness to Phil. One of my Dad’s best friends from Syracuse, the late Don Ross knew Scoot personally and was able to introduce my dad to Phil and was able to get his autograph for me that I still have. This was about 35 years ago.
Also in my childhood I could not sleep at night unless I had my transister radio next to my pillow or under my pillow so my Mom would not hear it and go to sleep listening to ‘The Scooter” and Frank Messer. Although we were thr first family to get a color TV on the block you could only see the Yanks on Sunday afternoons
This is a sad day for Yankee fans and off course for his family but Phil will be on the fast track to sit with the lord and tell baseball stories and explain to Cora why he is going to be stuck in traffic and late getting home
I love you Phil and my prayers are out to your family
