In my eyes, there has only every been one version of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book that really mattered and that was the Disney version. It featured bear that wanted to be like you (oo-hoo) and some seriously cool apes dancing.
There was a live-action version made in 1942 by Zoltan Korda and another in 1994 starring John Cleese, Jason Flemyng and Sam Neill but nothing can compare, not even Sam Neill’s moustache in the 94 version.
Now, there is a new version of The Jungle Book being made, which will feature animals that are both live-action and gobby - we love it! The $50 million film co-production between pathe and the BBC will be directed by John Downer, from a script by Richard Kurti and Bev Doyle.
As usual, more to come when we get it!
