The Judd Apatow music comedy Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story has been pushed back by Sony to December 21st 2007. The movie was written by Judd Apatow (Knocked Up) and directed by Jake Kasdan (Orange County) and is a comic take on musical biographies as Ray, Walk the Line and Selena.
The movie follows the up-and-down-and-up-again struggle of legendary musician Dewey Cox (played by John C. Reilly) as he rises from the poverty of an Alabama farm to conquer the world of popular music through a rollercoaster career that spans seven decades. Along the way Dewey acquires all the trappings of fame and fortune including multiple wives, eleven kids, several mansions and his own ‘70’s TV show. Oh, and a chimp!
The trailer for this film will be attached to SuperBad. The film was originally meant to hit theatres on December 14th, meaning it would be up against Will Smith’s I Am Legend, Alvin and the Chipmunks and the Christmas family romantic comedy Perfect Christmas. Walk Hard will now premiere against National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Be Kind Rewind.
