ps3, xbox 360 and elite pic
Now this is a real poll and not an attempt to cause a war between two platforms I promise you that, I really do have a dilemma. I recently bought an Xbox 360 and am really happy with the game play and graphics, I must say playing online is bloody awesome. Everything about the 360 is great and would not change it, but and a big BUT “It is so noisy and even more so with an intercooler attached”.

Now here is my thing, my cousin had the Xbox 360 and he swore by it until it broke down (oops), so he decided to take it back and in the end he got a full refund. Now his question is does he buy the Xbox 360 Elite or does he by the Sony Playstation 3; well he opted for the PS3 and now he is trying to convert me.

I have recently played the PS3 and must admit am impressed with the graphics, downsides are the Blu-ray seems a little jumpy to me and there are not as many titles as the 360, but I am still confused. Will my cousin convert me, will you convert me.

Please answer my Sony PS3 & Microsoft Xbox 360 Poll: Please help me decide?

Questions –

I have had all versions of the 360 and I currently had the 360 elite. Everyone complains about the noise, but my 360 is quiet. I have not had any problems with any xbox 360. O had the core and someone stole it. I bought the 20 gig and traded it in for the 360 for the hdmi and 120 gig hd. I have been very pleased. I think a lot of people are jumping on this “its too loud bandwagon”. Most of theoverheating issues are probaly caused by leaving the xbox in an enclosed area with little to no ventilation. All electronics state that they should have room for air circulation. I tell you……get the 360. Look at the facts…99 percent of the games are better on the 360, both in looks and playability. I am not a fan of neither xbox or ps3. But, my friend has the ps3 and I have the 360, the good thing about the ps3 is blu ray.

hey listen I dont think ps3 is a good choice because game publishers has said that it is way to hard to make games for the ps3,they said it is so easy to make games for the xbox 360 so there is hardly going to be games for the ps3 in the next two years or so and dont give us the xbox 360 has been out for an year crap so what it did have the best line up of games for the xbox 360 there was only two for the ps3 so that year crap doesnt matter, hey man go with the xbox 360 all the way,and even know that psn is free it sucks look just recently people that bought stuff off of the marketplace on psn was not working so they had to refund everyones stuff they bought on psn.

Microsoft doesn’t deserve your money much less any loyalty. Mind you I bought an xbox 360. The first one right out of the box would not work. The next day I had to get another one from gamestop. Along with it I got the extra warranty. This luckily worked right out of the box but my games would freeze just when I was nearing the finishing line. Every once in awhile I would get the 3 rings of death and have to pull the plug to get it going again. In short the 360 turned out to be and is a very unreliable system. I don’t care if you’ve got the best library in the world; if the system can’t play them it’s as if they have no library. I ended the misery by selling the worthless piece of plastic and cheap parts on Ebay. Some people don’t realize (by now) that what microsoft rushed into the market in order to be first was a beta version of a system that was untested and put together with any parts they could gather from the shelves. It should never have been released. Their system should have been released this holiday season.

I now have the PS3 and I’m extremely pleased with it. It’s like selling your Pinto and getting yourself a Jaguar or a Rolls Royce. The PS3 is quality inside out. It’s got everything and more which MS is now trying to make up for. Too late in my book after screwing so many gamers. The Playstation Network (PSN) is free, you can surf the web if you wish and it’s got a more sophisticated organization, look, style and appeal….professional you might say. The 360 menus look like a box of 64 crayons thrown together without an afterthought.

I got the 60gb version because it’s got the emotion engine which allows you to play PS1 and PS2 games. A huge and important reason to get this version. If not the 80gb is excellent if older games don’t matter to you.

A failure rate of 30-50 percent for the xbox 360 is reason enough to stay away from it much less buying it used or on Ebay. While the PS3 and the Wii are both under 1%.

Yes, the PS3 has just started it’s online and it will get better and so will it’s library of games. Remember the PS3 is not even a year old yet.

In closing quality and reliabilty should determine the success of a video game console…the games will come in time.

The general rule is if your a stupid yank that get sucked into all the microsoft marketing nosense then yes then 360 is for you, but if you know a bit more about games machines then go for the ps3.i think its quite obvious the ps3 will be on par with 360 in the next 9 months, give it two years and we will all be playing ps3.

Imaballa your also an idiot for starters the hd dvd add-on is 179.00 a premium xbox 360 is 350.00. That is 529.00 for a console with more exclusives and better online support. the ps3 did drop to 499 only to clear out the 60 gig version, then back up to 599 so still cheaper than ps3. Yes the ps3 controller is terrible also. Two more corrections Imballa: Ps3 has better graphics??? How old are you? That’s idiotic! Gears of War is still the best looking game to date! Both have HD graphics. Even older 360 only have component out, but who cares because my television does 1080p through component and a lot now days do. Also UNREAL TOURNAMENT is not Sony exclusive, it just comes out a little earlier! Not to mention final fantasy and metal gear may not remain Sony exclusive. Look at it this way… What ever us xbox gamers want we get, because Microsoft as almost unlimited funds to throw out there to give us. PS3 free online gaming… If I offered you a free 27 in std def tv and you had the option to take it or throw down $4.80 a month for 40 in 1080p tv what would you take? That is what I think about sony’s precious online gaming. Xbox did it first and they will always have that experience. Do you ps3 fans realize that us Xbox fans all started out as PS2 fans? Why do you think we switched to xbox when it came out? Microsoft has strived to give us what we want even if they lose money. Sony has always tried to dictate what we should like… Look at beta max and blu ray. The offer no choice they tell you either you do this or nothing. just like hdmi they don’t want anything else to be used so they disable 1080p capabilities through component cables on there TV’s. That’s why I bought a samsung. They don’t even offer an extended manufacturers warranty on the ps3 it is only covered 6 months and thats it. You can’t even buy one a warranty through sony for the ps3. everything they have given the gamers this generation is ripped off… the motion sensitive controller that the wii had, the guide button on the controller from xbox, also there will be achievements like on xbox in ps home, arcade games online purchases and media download from xbox, built in hard drive from xbox, and the list goes on. basically my point is xbox is listening to what we want and trying to fix any problems it has, but sony does what it wants and thinks that brand loyalty, since it lead last gen, will win out. don’t be tools, don’t be brainwashed, and don’t believed over hyped, prerendered cgi videos of games to come will look that way when you play them because sony are deceivers… Anything else?

I think you should get a PS3. The main reason is for the games arriving in future, Metal Gear Solid 4 looks to be one of those games that (usually) appears only once every 5 years, like Zelda OoT and Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy 13 and VS 13 are 2 more games of a legendary series. Grand Turismo 5 and Tekken 6 are 2 more games of a legendary series. There are also many excellent new IPs such as Heavenly Sword, Resistance, Folklore, Unchartered Drakes Fortune and Little Big Planet. HOME is a virtual world redefining online capabilities.
I really recommend you watch the SONY E3 2007 press conference as it should be very informative. On the other hand you could, quote from Microsoft spokesperson: “go in hard and go in deep”, with the Microsoft conference.
The Sony conference can be found at major gaming websites.
The other positives of the ps3 are the mind blowing graphics, the Blu-ray and the power of cell processing.
Free online, reliable hardware and a noise free system are yet more good reasons to buy a ps3. Shop wisely consumer.

  7. Sith says:

The reason the PS3 only has a 6 month warranty is because it doesn’t brake. Having a 3 year warranty isn’t exactly a great thing. It means that the company doesn’t trust the reliability of there own product. The 360 was poorly designed. It’s stupid if you ask me. Once Halo 3 comes out every 360 owner will be putting hundreds of hours on their consoles. You and I know what that means. 3 rings of death. If there were pissed off gamers before, just wait until the system starts crashing on Halo 3. And the PS3 graphics are better. Look at Uncharted.

  8. Paul says:

Go for the PS3 for sure. It’s quiet, reliable, and very well built. It’s slick in everything it does, it look stylish. There are some great games comming up.

I sold my 360, and bought a PS3, it was the best move I ever made.

Do I care that I will miss Halo 3? Nope not at all. I got Killzone 2, Unreal Tourment 2007, and MGS4 to look forward to. In the meantime, I already got some great games (both instore and on PSN), with some great titles pre-xmas.

PS. Anyone that thinks the 360 has a 3 year warranty has been fooled by Microsoft PR. It’s only 3yr on RROD failures. All other faults are 90 days (or 1 yr depending where you live).

If you unit does not turn on after 13 months, Microsoft will charge you $130 to fix it, as it’s not a RROD issue.

  9. Mike Morgan says:

PS3. No contest. It’s the only TRUE HD console. The 360 has HD-Addon, with a HDMI afterthought, and a HD DVD drive that connects via USB, and does not support ICT (subject to DVD downscaling, when the movie studios implement it next year).

Anyway, HD DVD is all but dead anyway.

    My reasoning.

The 360 is fundamentaly flawed, in design and specifiction, but has some games. The hardware issues are unlikely to be fixed anytime soon, and the system will always be crippled by DVD9 and lack of HDD in the core systems, even if they try and equip the later systems with these extras. The 65nm Falcon chip runs faster than the current chip, so older Xboxes will run newer games slower :-( Microsoft will expect you to buy a new Xbox360 to play the latest Xbox360 games it seems.

The PS3 has everything you need for next gen gaming, but titles are still thin on the ground. This problem will be a non issue in 4 months time (R&C, UT2007, Haze, Drakes Fortune, MGS4, Killzone2, Gran Turismo 5 and so on). The PS3 problems will fade.

  10. Charles says:

Get a 360 because if it breaks down you will be back up and running in about 3-4 weeks and you will still have tons of games to play. Or you can Buy a PS3 and keep getting game delays that are pushed back by 3-6 months and maybe even a year.
