Now this is a real poll and not an attempt to cause a war between two platforms I promise you that, I really do have a dilemma. I recently bought an Xbox 360 and am really happy with the game play and graphics, I must say playing online is bloody awesome. Everything about the 360 is great and would not change it, but and a big BUT “It is so noisy and even more so with an intercooler attached”.
Now here is my thing, my cousin had the Xbox 360 and he swore by it until it broke down (oops), so he decided to take it back and in the end he got a full refund. Now his question is does he buy the Xbox 360 Elite or does he by the Sony Playstation 3; well he opted for the PS3 and now he is trying to convert me.
I have recently played the PS3 and must admit am impressed with the graphics, downsides are the Blu-ray seems a little jumpy to me and there are not as many titles as the 360, but I am still confused. Will my cousin convert me, will you convert me.
Please answer my Sony PS3 & Microsoft Xbox 360 Poll: Please help me decide?

Buy ps3
Yes, its about the game, since this is an investment you have to think long term follow my logic.
You want to play the MAXIMUM amount of great games out there buying a PS3 will be the best way to go because you will be able to play:
1) Most of the 3rd Party games on PS3
2) PS3 1st party exclusives: Lair, Killzone, Heavenly Sword, Little Big Planet, Infamous
3) PS3 3rd part exclusives: Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Haze, Unreal Tournament 3
4) You can play most of the great Xbox games, on the PC or eventually will: Halo, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Viva Pinata
If you don’t get a PS3 you will never get a chance to play any of the great 1st party, and 3rd party exclusive games.
Halo 3 will eventually come out on PC just like Halo1 & 2.
I think that the whole commotion on the supposed hardware failure of the 360’s is a very vocal minority. The Xbox 360’s at the stores have all the reliability one could possibly want with the newest hardware revision- the CPU is now attached to the motherboard with resin, the cooler, quieter 65nm processors are coming into the stock channel, the revised heatsink, and quiet dvd drives, and HDMI that now ship with all premium and elite 360’s. Graphics wise, I am more impressed with the power ATI has provided to the 360’s graphics chip- and developers recently have made great use of it. With the deluge of fantastic xbox titles coming out within the next few months, I would choose a 360 and use the money you save to go towards the games.
Here in Canada, you can buy two 360 cores, an extra controller and a game or two for the same price as a PS3. I think that the interface of the 360 is more intuitive, and the online support for the xbox is an entire order of magnitude greater than that of the playstation 3. One could get the ps3 to play movies and search photos, but why when everyone has a computer and dedicated players to do the job extremely well already?
Ivan don’t be such a bias sony fanboy. Each system is good in its own way but its up to the gamer. Make a valid point in why the ps3 is better than the competition and I won’t bug you.
“You should buy the PS3 is not noisy at all, it has awesome Cinema graphics a lot of good games”
Now im not sure what games your talking about for the ps3 that are good and im sorry to see that a system’s noise output detirmine whether you buy it. But on to the question….. id recommend anything but the ps3 because of it’s poor 1st party support and it’s expense. Heck just build a pc. Check out gamespot.com to check out great games for each system under top games.
Are you guys NUTTS? Only reason Xbox 360 has more games is Xbox360 came out 1 year earlier than PS3. It’s just matter of time. I had Xbox360 but after 2 time failings I just bought PS3. And I just love my PS3. I can play I can watch Blue ray movies, and i can access internet. I don’t need PC any more. Ooh did Imantion FREE online gaming….
go with the console that has the most promising games to you. everyone likes different games, so only you can really decide.
if you decide on a 360, though, you should wait until the holiday season starts. there will be bundles where the 360 Premium/Elite both come with Forza Motorsport 2 and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. hardware issues should be taken care of in those consoles as far as them overheating etc.
I would stick with the 360
The ps3 is gonna have some sweet games, their rpg selection is flawless. But I can play those games with gamefly and a friends ps3 once through then i’m done with it. The thing that I find attractive about the 360 is the online gameplay.
GET RID OF THE INTERCOOLER,
those things kill 360s. Ive had two 360s since launch and one was stolen. You would be surprised how many people’s 360s break and its because they overheat or don’t have enough power. What the intercooler system does is suck power away from the system which causes major power failure in crucial parts.
Also, do not use a extension cord or surge protector. Plug the 360 directly into the wall socket making sure no other appliances can share power that the 360 needs.
If you called a Microsoft employee at customer support they will agree with these two strategies to keeping your 360 alive.
My brothers 360 broke down, and he had a cooling system attached, Microsoft fixed the problem free of charge and told us not to put the intercooler back on the system. It’s worked flawlessly ever since.
If your asking why does the intercooler exist, well their third party devices.
The PS3 could still have more games “PS3 all the way” because as you can see the Wii came out around the same time and has a plethora of more games than the PS3 and the 360. The games are great but there are not many because they take longer to develop and you get the best out of the games because you get to see the developers at their best. The PS3 will get more games in a wide variety. The 360 is good as well but leans more to the side of FPS fans. I think that 33% failure is a bit much because, even with the warranty, I don’t to keep replacing a 360 until the warranty is out (exaggeration). As you can see though, just about everybody that owns a PS3 does not regret at it all. The price is steep, but it is worth the money AND is still a great deal. PS3 is worth it, but keeping the 360 is fine as well.
P.S. A third option is the Wii, but the thing with the Wii is that the “cool” factor of the gameplay can only last so long and everyone I know that owns a Wii says that it is near there TV picking up dust and only play it every so often when friends are over. I have nothing against the Wii, it is just that I think the games on the Wii can get old fast, which is why it has so many games to buy. Anyways, good luck with your decision.
Oh yeah, free online on the PS3 is a major plus, even though I don’t see how Xbox Live is worth paying for.
