Now this is a real poll and not an attempt to cause a war between two platforms I promise you that, I really do have a dilemma. I recently bought an Xbox 360 and am really happy with the game play and graphics, I must say playing online is bloody awesome. Everything about the 360 is great and would not change it, but and a big BUT “It is so noisy and even more so with an intercooler attached”.
Now here is my thing, my cousin had the Xbox 360 and he swore by it until it broke down (oops), so he decided to take it back and in the end he got a full refund. Now his question is does he buy the Xbox 360 Elite or does he by the Sony Playstation 3; well he opted for the PS3 and now he is trying to convert me.
I have recently played the PS3 and must admit am impressed with the graphics, downsides are the Blu-ray seems a little jumpy to me and there are not as many titles as the 360, but I am still confused. Will my cousin convert me, will you convert me.
Please answer my Sony PS3 & Microsoft Xbox 360 Poll: Please help me decide?
Questions –
1. Do I stick with the Xbox 360?
2. Do I buy the Xbox 360 Elite?
3. Do I buy the Sony Playstation 3?

So 360 is better now for games everyone seems to agree if sony can get there sh!t together soon then they will be even.
So far if you want a hd video player sony is cheaper and if you have an hdmi input on your tv then sony is good choice
until falcon core and premiums come out with hdmi (but no hddvd drive biult in?).
GTA4 will have bonus content for both consoles so thats no biggie (Well wait to see how it controls for ps3 tho).
It just comes down to how the backward compatability works out for me so if anyone could shed some light on that for me would be much appreciated since I have heard of some video issues with some of the older titles.
Yes, its about the game, since this is an investment you have to think long term follow my logic.
You want to play the MAXIMUM amount of great games out there buying a PS3 will be the best way to go because you will be able to play:
1) Most of the 3rd Party games on PS3
2) PS3 1st party exclusives: Lair, Killzone, Heavenly Sword, Little Big Planet, Infamous
3) PS3 3rd part exclusives: Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Haze, Unreal Tournament 3
4) You can play most of the great Xbox games, on the PC or eventually will: Halo, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Viva Pinata
If you don’t get a PS3 you will never get a chance to play any of the great 1st party, and 3rd party exclusive games.
Halo 3 will eventually come out on PC just like Halo1 & 2.
360 my freind, with the new falcon chips coming this month and the games that are coming out to the 360 will be on top for a long time to come, ps3 exclusives are dropping from 3rd parties and with the rumor that wont go away about mgs4 and ff13 coming over to i see no reason to get a ps3, i was in the same shoes as u once but i feel i made the right choice a load of my mates came over to play on it and they all went out to buy one”2were sony fanboys” the games speak for them selves , e3 best games were all on the 360 and most of them exclusives to, oh and to answer ur question above only the 360 version of gta is have downloadable content, rockstar sed them selves the full experiance will be on the 360
Dont sell yourself short. The 360 is the way to go. There is a 3 year warrinty on the Xbox 360, also they have fixed the problems with a new Falcon chipset, its cooler and quieter.
As for online gaming, Xbox live is the way to go, PSN will never be as good as XBL, the XBL arcade games, I have had my issues with the 360 too, but its the choice over a PS3. if you want the best online experience its Xbox live.
Nothing wrong with the PS3, but not worth it and i want better online gaming, so Xbox live is the way to go, that alone sold me. I also own a WII and PSP.
Listen to your cousin.
i have both a Xbox 360 and a PS3, yet after having both my impressions of the consoles have greatly changed….
When i got the PS3 i was impressed cause it was sleek and the motion and touch sensor ( on button) was cool, yet after a while you realize the term “half baked” is an understatement when it comes to anything online ( with the exception of the internet browser). The fan is pretty noisy as well….when playing a blu ray movie, the fan is somewhat annoying at times. The overall multimedia of the Ps3 is somewhat better than the 360, yet it pails in comparison in all other departments.
Since getting my 360 last christmas ive had no console failures. The games are amazing, and when comparing them to my PS3 they are noticable smoother and have much more background detail… the fan is annoying, but so is the PS3’s so that factor is null and void. Halo 3 beta really made the 360 a better choice as a console for me as well as the plethora of other games available…since i got my 360 ive 12 xbox games and 2 PS3 games….
So, if your into a console for the games and multiplayer experiance, Xbox 360 is the clear winner ( for now); but, if your into a multimedia monster PS3 is what you should buy.
Well if you already have a good library of 360 games, stick with what you got. Anyways, if you own a different console to your cousin then you both have access to the best of both worlds right?
Dude, its all about the analog placement on the controller. remember ps1 and fps hurt the hands. ps3 and fps is no different. go ergonomic go xbox 360.
PS3 Duhh!!!!
reasons:
-Xbox syestems dont have hdtv you have to buy an add on.200$
-Xbox360 will come out with a new system sooner than you think.
-You can turn your ps3 into a computer if you want
-ps3 graphics way better
I agree with ‘imaballa’
It is difficult to argue price as the PS3 will run you more on your initial purchase and the 360 will run you more over time IF you wish to pick up the HD-DVD add-on or intend to play your games online. Essentially, both consoles balance each other out in price (if you exclude repairs for the 360 now that MS is extended the warrenty).
But for me, this has always been the first and main reason to purchase a Playstation over an Xbox = exclusive games. Microsoft does not seem to understand this as their ‘exclusive’ games appear on other platform(s) PCs and Macs (ie: Gears of War coming to Mac). True these games are ‘exclusive’ to the Xbox 360 in the console department, yet when one is able to experience the same or possibly better game on a PC - why would you go out to buy an Xbox 360? For XBox Live? So again, when I can get Windows Live (essentially same service on PC), why do I buy an Xbox 360?
Only one reason remains in my opinion - the controller. Rumble or not? (though Sony is rumored to have their updated rumble controller released this year) Motion or not? It would depend on which controller you feel most comfortable with when gaming. Now, another may argue that the feel of the controller should not matter as you could always opt out for a controller more to your liking via 3rd party manufactorer.
Considering you already have a computer or intend on buying one in the near future - I say, ask yourself these questions before buying either PS3 or 360:
1. I’m I buying this for the games or the HiDef experience? Are multimedia options important to you? - if you said HiDef or multimedia options are important; go buy the PS3 right now, you will NOT regret it.
2. What is your favorite game genre? What are your favorite games/series? If you said FPS ALL THE WAY, go get the Xbox right now.
3. If on PS3, can you play this on PC? If on 360, can you play this on PC?
4. Which controller feels most comfortable to you? (is rumble/motion controls important?)
5. Do you already own a PSP?
Asking myself these questions made it very easy to decide which console to buy and I could not be happier with my PS3.
