Russell Crowe

It has been reported that JJ Abrams wants to cast Russell Crowe as the villain in the upcoming Star Trek movie. Russell Crowe isn’t the only star JJ Abrams wants to appear in the movie, JJ Abrams has also roped Tom Cruise into playing a cameo role in the film.

It’s not the first time that the series has tried to cast big names, Jude Law was asked to be in “Star Trek: Nemesis” in 2002, Tom Hanks was approached for the role of Zephram Cochrane in “Star Trek: First Contact” in 1996 and Eddie Murphy’s name was put forward for the role of a professor concerned with UFO’s who spots the de-cloaking Klingon ship at the Super Bowl in “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home” in 86.

Whether Crowe will accept the role or not is another story but I think he’d be perfect for the part! We’ll let you know more as we get it.

Wow, you guys are really late in the game on this. This rumor was reported many days ago (August 8, to be exact) and was deemed “unlikely” even by the people reporting it (http://movies.ign.com/articles/811/811513p2.html). The Tom Cruise rumor is from August 6th and has since been officially debunked (http://trekmovie.com/2007/08/06/return-of-the-cruise-rumor-now-as-pike/).
