Perseid Meteor Shower
Tonight (Sunday night) the Perseids meteor shower is expected to average a meteor a minute which should be its peak.

If you’re looking to see the meteor shower at its best then it is reported that at around 2:00am on Monday it should peak (according to Taufik Hidayat from the Boscha Space Observatory).

The meteor shower will then carry on for several more days after its peak tonight, if you have seen the August Perseids meteor shower yourself then feel free to leave a comment on how you found it.

I’m up in the Yukon Territory, and heard that we might be in for a Good Show being way up North. Hopefully the Northern Lights will be out too.

If you look towards the constellation of Perseus, you stand a decent chance of seeing even isolated meteorites. Look it up on a star map on the web or something if you cannot recognise Perseus.

Hey!! PPL nice out eh??? Well my friends and i have been laying on a trampoline under the stars(r there ever LOTS)…anywho we saw several of’em with pretty big and long tails and they look awesome. 1 more thing, we seen a few small things move across the sky that looks like stars:P It could be satellites. Unno!!:D

  9. David Legg says:

If they move slowly, they’re satellites.
If they move slowly and flash, they’re aeroplanes.

  10. thats too bad that most of the time we cannot locate exactly where most of the unburned meteorites did fall….. its so great to find and own a celestial rock
