Universal Music Getting Sued By Veoh
By: Daniel Chubb | August 10, 2007 | Leave a CommentApparently, after Universal Music made one too many threats to Veoh, Veoh CEO Steve Mitgang is now going to sue Universal Music.
In order to protect themselves, Veoh are suing in a federal court and trying to get a declaratory injunction to bar Universal from taking legal action
Veoh is an online video website so this is really surprising to see a video website suing a large media company, and these lawsuits usually just go in the direction of the video website.
Veoh said that this lawsuit was built on “unreasonable” threats from Universal. Apparently Universal made it clear that they would be suing Veoh for copyright infringement, something they always follow up on, and so Veoh has decided to strike first. Under the protection of the DMCA, Veoh cannot be hit by a counter lawsuit for the time being.
It looks like this will be an ongoing story, so stay tuned to Product Reviews Business to keep up to date.
