The Department of Community Health officials said that about 350,000 State Workers, School Employees and Retirees will be facing about a 10% cost rise increase in their health insurance premiums on January the 1st which is a major blow to those affected, this increase will happen because after one year there was no premium rate hikes.
Sonny Perdue and the General Assembly faced re-election in 2006 and they put more money in budget for fiscal 2007 so that state teachers & employees would not have to pay higher insurance premiums for their health care.
It was said by Bill Tomlinson who is a retired state budget director who helps the running of a state retirees group that the increase was not really mentioned when the lawmakers discussed the state budget during the 2007 session and that the increase will cost him somewhere around $25 more per month.
