Second Life with autism
Many of you out there think Autism is not a disability but in a way it is and at the end of the day it is the way of life for many people including my 4 year old son.

It has been said that research suggests that as many as one in 58 children may have autism and that autistic people are now using the internet to fight for their right to be accepted as they are rather than be treated or cured and why not they should be treated the same as everyone else.

Amanda Baggs, is an autism campaigner from Vermont and is unable to speak because of the condition so she communicates entirely by computer. At the moment my son can not talk and is using Makaton sign to communicate which I think is great but when his understanding develops I think him using a computer would be a great idea and a great form of communication.

In the online virtual world of Second Life, Amanda has founded a group called the Autistic Liberation Front. They believe that autism is not a disease which needs to be treated but just a form of cultural difference this is very true.

Second life is great because I think that it helps take away the emphasis from their very complex needs that most of us would expect.

My son is very lucky because both my husband and I are lucky enough to be able to work from home so that we can give him the best in life and help him achieve the best he possible can in life.

What are your thoughts on Autism do you think that it is a disability?
