Our Google Activities Aren’t Encrypted? How To Stay Safe

Google, the one and only search engine that we all love and abide to, has let us down for the first time. Their services like mail, the news, your calendar events and all the other things the Google world provides us with is not encrypted at all, meaning anyone can get their hands on what you’re doing and use it to their liking.

“Google, like any other legitimate service provider, encrypts login traffic, but not your content. So the moment you’re signed in they switch to plain-text communications and send everything to you in the open.”

This is very worrying indeed, seeing as we don’t expect the IT guy in the room upstairs to be able to see what we’r doing. However, there are ways to protect yourself and we urge you to follow them as strictly as you can.

1. Use bookmarks for your Google services.

2. Don’t click on links within Google to get to other services.

Google, we hope that you get this situation fixed, pronto.
