Microsoft Announcement: EA VP John Schappert to oversee Xbox Live

Microsoft has just announced that they have appointed Electronic Arts (EA) executive John Schappert to oversee Xbox Live; this is a newly created position of corporate vice president of Live software and services. Basically his new job will entail overseeing Xbox Live which now has a staggering 7 million members scoping across 25 countries.

John Schappert new job within the business will also include where he will oversee related businesses for example Games for Windows, Live, XNA and Microsoft Casual Games, this will include well over 400 games via MSN Games, Windows games and Xbox Live Arcade plus Windows Live Messenger.

The question is will John Schappert be up to the job?
