Mercedes-Benz new compact CUV to be called the GLK

We have known for a while now that Mercedes-Benz have been working on a new compact SUV, and although there has been much speculation about its name Mercedes have officially announced that the new vehicle will be called the GLK.

This new crossover will first debut in Europe late next year, and then the German made SUV will make its way to US soil early in 2009. Mercedes-Benz had ideas of marketing the GLK as a SUV but went for the CUV approach instead. Not much is known about the new GLK as journalists have only seen a prototype, but many believe that Mercedes will show off a GLK-Class over in Detroit in January 2008.
