You would not believe it but it has been 40 years since the rotary engine came into use, and to help celebrate Mazda are producing 200 Mazda RX-8 Rotary Engine 40th Anniversary edition cars, which will only be available in Japan.

Each of these 200 limited edition vehicles will be finished in Marble White; there will also be special badging, and a cool looking leather and Alcantara interior that features contrast trimming. What also makes the RX-8 Rotary Engine 40th Anniversary edition different are the Bilstein dampers, and the front cross member which has been filled with foam.

Mazda have still used the same engine that appears in both the RX-8 Type S and RX-8 Type E models, so all this special edition is, is a new paint scheme and some accessory and trim tweaks.
