GM $1 billion Olympic sponsorship to end: General Motors looking for a better return
GM is to end their $1 billion Olympic sponsorship deal as the company can no longer justify spending $1 billion on sponsorship for the US Olympic team. General Motors has said that there are a many other options that they can explore which will offer a greater return for the dollar.

The contract for the Olympics will lapse after the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, but GM has said that the company will stay committed to both the U.S. Snowboarding Team and also the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, who GM of Canada will sponsor.

GM has stated that the ending of this sponsorship is not a sign of financial weakness; they just want to be more efficient with all the aspects of their business.
