Will Superman battle two villains in the new movie Superman: The Man Of Steel

There are reports that a user of the Superman Supersite, bluetights.net bumped into Superman: The Man Of Steel co-scribe Michael Dougherty at the US Capitol building and instead of asking for an autograph, he instead gave him an interview!

The question he first asked is whether Dougherty, whose directional debut Trick’r’Treat is coming out later this year, co-writing the film with Singer and Dan Harris? Michael Dougherty then “confirmed that he is writing it with the two just like the last picture,” wrote the poster, codenamed Brian

The other bruning question Brian asked is whether The Man of Steel is still on track for 2009, what with Singer being slightly busy on Rubicon (Valkyrie)? Brian wrote “The goal is still to have the movie out in the Summer of 2009. He seemed a little hesitant about it but did his best to try and reassure that it will get done by then,”

Finally, Brian added“I asked if he could give any more info on the film,” “He responded, “There are TWO villains,” and he smiled.”

Well, as with any gossip like this in the world of film we have to take it with a large pinch of salt, until any official confirmation comes forward. We’ve known for weeks that Kevin Spacey will be reprising his role as Lex Luthor, alongside Brandon Routh as Superman. A second villain has been rumoured too, but who could it be?

We all know Singers love for the Donnerverse of the original Superman movies, which led speculation that it could be General Zod, but it seems rather unlikely.
