For all you vegetarians there is a new life insurance policy which has been recently launched which offers lower premiums, this is great news because it looks like the more you eat healthily the more you will benefit in paying lower premium insurances rates.

A company called Animal Friends Insurance have said that if you did not eat meat you would qualify for a stunning 6 percent discount of life cover and this is because there is medical evidence that those not eating meat are less likely to suffer from major illnesses than those who do eat meat.

The life insurance industry have not given adequate weight to the benefits of being a vegetarian plus who were in effect subsidising those who do eat meat by paying the same premiums (this is what not-for-profit group said). Underwritten by insurer Liverpool Victoria the policy is also available to meat eaters but without the discount.

Do you agree with this new policy?

  1. I have noticed lately that there are alot of concerns about life insurance policies and the fact that you have to keep them for at least a year or whatever the term says before you can actually bank on the policy. So if you get a life insurance policy and you die in 2 weeks, then you do not get the life insurance payoff because you died too fast (no matter what the reason is). It is important to check out the life insurance company you are going to be dealing with on this aspect.

  2. It seems like the options for life insurance policies are forever evolving. Wouldn’t it be more efficient to simply exam the medical state of that specific individual rather than theorising that he/she has better health simply because they do not eat meat?

I can see where they’re coming from, but I think it’s innately flawed.
