Haile Gebrselassie Wins NYC Half Marathon, Kibet Wins Womens New York City Half Marathon

The NYC Half Marathon has been won by Haile Gebrselassie as his time of 59 minutes, 24 seconds was enough for the Ethiopian to secure the NYC Half Marathon title.
As well as winning the New York City Half Marathon, Gebrselassie has won a gold medal at the Olympics twice for Ethiopia and this is the eight half marathon he has won in eight attempts.
Hilda Kibet of Kenya claimed victory in the Women’s NYC Half Marathon with a time of 1 hour, 10 seconds.
The temperature at the New York City Half Marathon was 70 degrees Fahrenheit or 21 degrees Celsius.

Gebrselassie overtook the US runner from Somalia, Abdi Abdirahman, in the final five miles of the NYC Half Marathon.
