“This is the first step on my quest to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and I’m glad Sultan Ibragimov was willing to step up and give me a shot,” said Holyfield.

Holyfield has so far won all his boxing bouts since he made a comeback, beating names such as Oquendon and Maddalone…Who?

Yet, Holyfield has yet to face a decent boxer and although the heavyweight division is a shambles at the moment, Ibragimov is a good step up for Holyfield.

Holyfield is a great athlete but at 40+ should channel his energies elsewhere in the game.Whether he regains a belt at World Champion Level now pales into insignificance when you compare those now with the great names of the past eg Holmes, Tyson Bowe Lewis. Evander genuinely has nothing more to prove. I’m sure we wish him well but I for one would be happier seeing him give a farewell salute to the sport that he has served so well.
Lennox Lewis was a blessed and skilled champ who was able top get out at the top and retire as champion. George Foreman was a one off and had the build to endure the assaults of younger opponents to regain hos crown in his forties.Evander was originally cruiserwight and unlike Foreman is not a naturally big heavyweight. He risks being seriously hurt .Is it worth it? I don’t think so.
