Simon Cowell wants to be Star Struck

Music Mogul and American Idol judge Simon Cowell is planning a music-themed film titled “Star Struck”. Inpspired by the 1980 film “Fame”, the story will be set behind the scenes of a TV singing competition and follows 10 contestants trying to win.

Cowell has said he wants it to be “the musical version of ‘Rocky’ — an underdog story, a feel-good film.”
The leads in the film won’t be selected trhough closed audtions, but through nationwide open call auditions similar to those used on the reality shows.

Johnathan Harvey, British TV super scribe will pen the script with a summer 2008 release date planned.
