Shrek 4 Hits Theatres on May 10th 2010

It has been officially announced by DreamWorks Animation and Paramount that they will be releasing Shrek 4 on the 10th May 2010. This comes after the announcement earlier this year that there will be a Shrek 4 and Shrek 5.
DreamWorks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg said about the popular ogre movies, “It’s a finite story, has been from the beginning and I think that’s part of its integrity, part of its strength, that we’re not thinking this up as we go. Ultimately we will come back to understand how Shrek arrived in that swamp. We will reveal his story.”
Shrek the Third made $718.6 million worldwide which is nearly double the amount the first movie made ($484.4) but no where near as profitable as Shrek 2 which made $920.6 million.
It’s not only earning big bucks at the box office, the Shrek films do extremely well on DVD. Although it is the second biggest movie of 2007 so far, Shrek the Third was haild as the worst movie of the bunch, so it will be interesting to see where DreamWorks will take the film in order to restore our faith in the lean green ogre machine!
One thing is for sure, Shrek 4 won’t do too badly at the Box Office in May. With Shrek being such a firm family favourite, I predict big bucks for DreamWorks ahead!
