Very little people understand exactly what insurance cover is required when travelling on the Continent.

Research from Marks & Spencer Money shows that only a third of people were insured if their car was pranged or stolen whilst on the continent and only one in five were covered if they broke down.

Extra Cover is required with most insurance companies. Many people do not realise that they are not covered outside of the UK.

It is most definately worth taking out the extra cover whilst travelling on the continent as the cost of a breakdown is in the region of £680.00.

Some policies only last for 30 days whilst other lasts for up to 90 days. The AA and Churchill are two of the leading insurers where your comprehensive cover applied on the continent. Whilst mny other provide third party only.

The AA also provide a breakdown cover which is £64.80 for a two week holiday or £117.50 for a years cover, which is for up to 90 days travelling.

The RAC’s service is for up to 7 people and depends on how many people are within the vehicle.
