Australian game developers want same tax break as film industry
The GDAA, or the Game Developers Association of Australia has been phoning and writing to the Government’s arts minister and also the opposition minister, and asking them that the game industry should receive the same tax break as the film industry as they get a 40% tax rebate.

If the game industry received the same tax break as the movie industry, then the GDAA has said that it would give them an extra $5 million of investment which Australian developers could use. Greg Bondar, the executive director of the GDAA had this to say “We have a commitment to ensuring that participants in the interactive entertainment industry are equally competitive with our overseas competitors.”

The request that Australian game developers have asked for is the same tax breaks that their counterparts over in Canada enjoy, which have given them more investment money into the country’s game industry.
