The San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Morris has been acquired by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Pittsburgh Pirates sent rookie outfielder Rajai Davis and a player to be named to the Giants in return.
By losing Matt Morris the Giants are basically getting rid of salary payments, as they look to rebuild one of the oldest teams in MLB.
Matt Morris will be 33 in nine days and he was a 22 game winner for St. Louis in 2002.
Matt Morris said:
“I heard rumours all week about me being traded, but Pittsburgh was never mentioned,”
“Brian Sabean called and said Pittsburgh, and I was in a little bit of shock. It’s my first time being traded and it’s all new to me.”
“I’m excited about getting back to the NL Central and getting some better defense and some young guys out there who are looking to play hard.”
What do you think about Matt Morris going to the Pittsburgh Pirates?
Does he still have a lot to offer to MLB?
