The PS3 vs Xbox 360 console war goes on: Is it getting out of hand

It seems to be now that the PS3 vs Xbox 360 console war goes on and the question is “Is it getting out of hand? A reader of ours called Chris has gone on to say –

Hey mates, I didn’t want to get into an argument like this, either. All I was doing was looking up the Playstation 3 on Google News when I came across this blog, and the Anti-Playstation 3 comments urged me to set things straight, or at least even out the balance.
There’s no doubt that I’m obviously outnumbered here by Xbox 360 fanbo- erm, supporters. Maybe I’m the only person here who has factual knowledge of the Playstation 3, and I also know a lot about the Xbox 360 because I had one. If it weren’t for the defective Xbox 360’s at launch, and especially the lack of good games at launch, I wouldn’t have been discouraged from buying an Xbox 360. I’m actually glad I didn’t, because the Playstation 3 was definitely worth the wait.
I respect your opinion, Wayne, but I’m going to have to disregard your comment for now because it’s hard to relate to it since the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are somewhat different here in the United States.
Scoob, I also acknowledge your opinion, but not respect it because you flagrantly accuse me of being fanatic and you lack factual support. I know there is room for all 3 consoles on the market, but I support the Playstation 3, because it is a great console in my opinion, and I play it more often than I did with my Xbox 360, and I play it much more often than my Wii, (which sits under the TV for long periods at a time).
I’d like to get this one thing out of the way. Metal Gear Solid 4 will never come to the Xbox 360, so don’t get your hopes up. Kojima confirmed it, there is no loophole, and all this accumulated off of one rumor. Plus, I wouldn’t support the rumor, because it makes individuals look desperate for a great Playstation 3 exclusive like Metal Gear Solid 4. So let’s just drop the MGS4 port rumor now.
In the early comments, Ricky stated his opinion, and gave advice about the Playstation 3. Then, Matt and Mark started ranting on Ricky with something along the lines of “You’re a stupidhead!” Well, Matt said that he was stupid, which is pretty close.
I was unoccupied at the moment, and that’s why I had a lengthy period of time to think about and write a long article. After I wrote so much, I did think about the post, and I admit, it was a little unrelated. It would be better off in an article titled “The Xbox 360 is better than the Playstation 3″. I guess you could compare it to telling a kid he’s adopted during his 10th birthday party, so I apologize for starting out with such an in-depth post.
Another thing I’d like to get out of the way; The Xbox 360 has a 3-year warranty (Announced somewhat recently), and that’s good to hear. I’m not concerned because the Playstation 3 doesn’t need a 3-year warranty.
Next thing, the Playstation 2 talk is also very unrelated, but there’s no need to bring it into this discussion. Of around 120 people I know with a PS2, only about 2 or 3 had to get theirs replaced. About half of my friend’s with PS2’s have had theirs for 7 years, and they still work fine. Unfortunately, only about 6 of my friends have Xbox 360’s. My very unlucky friend purchased a defective console at launch, replaced it, then replaced his second 360 due to red lights after about a month. Two other friends had to replace their 360 once.
Lastly, I never stated that Killzone 2 would be a Halo killer. For all we know, it could be a Halo killer. Killzone 2 will be a great game, and Halo 3 is going to be an incredible game. That’s the truth. Mass Effect looks okay, but there’s a little too much RPG element for me to like it. Bioshock looks great!
But… I can play it on my PC.
Back to Halo 3. To be honest, I’m kind of jealous that Halo 3 is an Xbox 360 exclusive. The beta wasn’t too fun, but I’m sure the retail game will be better. But Microsoft has put too much focus on Halo 3. It’s going to be the biggest game of it’s year, but then what? The Xbox 360 will have one massive exclusive, and two huge exclusives, but the Playstation 3 will have three close-to-massive exclusives, three or four huge exclusives, and more than a dozen great exclusives. In my opinion, there will be a big drought after Halo 3.
Thanks Chris
