Surprise Surprise! The Simpsons Movie is Big Earner

What a surprise! The Simpsons have completely crushed the competition to be on the top spot at the US Box Office. The first ever Simpsons movie took £36 million in its opening weekend which knocked Adam Sandler’s ‘I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry’ down to second place.

The Simpsons Movie now holds the record for the biggest ever US debut for a television adaptation which leaves Mission:Impossible II and The Spongebob SquarePants movie out in the cold.

It’s hardly a shock though is it? The movie has been highly anticipated for over ten years so it’s only natural for Simpsons fans (and boy are there a lot of them) to flock to see the movie.
