battling breast cancer
Robin Roberts of ABC’s Good Morning America announced today that she is battling breast cancer.

Robin found out she had breast cancer after she was preparing for a tribute show for her dear friend and colleague, Joel Siegel who also fought cancer. When Robin got home she went to bed and did a self breast exam and found a lump.

She said at first I thought “This can’t be. I am a young, healthy woman.” Nevertheless, I faced my fear head on and made an appointment to see the doctor. Much as I was hoping the doctor would say it was nothing, she did a biopsy and confirmed that the lump I’d found was indeed an early form of breast cancer.”

Robin is due to have surgery on Friday to remove the lump and will follow with treatment.

Let’s wish Robin all the best and hope that everything goes ok and that she makes a full recovery.

    To Robin Roberts;
    I have just gone through what you are starting to go through
    I had a mammogram on June 12. On June 13th I had a needle biopsyof both breast. I had surgery on Monday July 9th, and met with my surgeon on July17th. He informed me that I did indeed have Breast cancer and needed another operation. So on July 30th I had surgery again. I am waiting for the report of my second surgery. My cancer could only be detected by a mammogram, there was no lump so this tells all women they need the mammograms to detect the cancer
    I will be praying for you for a complete recovery
    I will be going through radiation therapy for 5 weeks then maybe I will be through this nightmare.

    Dear Robin,

    My husband and I are great fans of GMA and all the members. Our daughter went through the same thing you are about to go through so we know what is involved. My husband is a survior of jaw cancer as well. Our prayers are with you each and every day. We firmly believe in the power of prayer and in positive thoughts. You have caught this early and that is the best part. Know that we are praying for you. Stay strong, keep the faith as I know you are a believer. God be with you.

    Dear Robin, When I saw you this morning on the GMA show, my heart was heavy and I felt your pain before you even made your announcement. It was like looking in a mirror at myself. Don’t look backwards for answers, look forward to solutions. I do not have breast cancer, but will make an appointment for a mammogram ASAP, I am months overdue……I have an MPD or Myelo Proliferative Disorder, a precursor to Leukemia. I was diagnosed in 2004, and must take chemo in pill form for the rest of my life, there is no cure for MPD’s. But this is not about me, it is about YOU. I am leaving tomorrow night for Atlanta to spend 3 weeks with my daughter……..but my first stop will be in Conyers. I am saying a chaplet for you tonight, and will place you on the altar of the Mother of God Church in Conyers, the site of many miracles and where the Virgin appeared each month to throngs of believers. I have done this for everyone I know or don’t know who had cancer and they ALL survived, I also gave them blessed medals and scapulars and prayer folders, but I will not intrude on your privacy by asking where I could send them, I will visualize you receiving them from me instead. God bless you, Robin, I will pray for you every day, you are so much like my daughter you wouldn’t believe it, when you are well I will tell you about it. Hang on tight, here come the rapids! Robin, I am a 22 year survivor of breast cancer. I was your age when I had a mastectomy. When I heard you this morning my heart went out to you - it brought back the feeling when I heard I had cancer. You have gotten me through many mornings and I want you to know I’m here for you now. You will be ok - keep your head up and know many people are praying for you.

    Robin,
    I will be praying for you. I went through a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation in 2000-2001 when I was 42 years old. It wasn’t an easy battle but I have all good reports today. Research has come so far since then that I have complete confidence in your prognosis. Wishing you all the best!

    Robin, I don’t know if you will get this email, but when I heard the news on Channel 5 in Arizona I was compelled to send you this note. I was diagnosed with rectal cancer in April 2006. I had 6 weeks of chemo and radiation, and after those 6 weeks I had an ilestomy for 6 months. I guess what I am trying to say is your faith, family, friends, and a positive attitude will get you through this ugly disease and nightmare. Family and friends will be concerned and afraid to ask “how you are doing”. I know, I had many friends who wanted to call but were afraid. Talk about it, let them know how you are doing. Yes, like you mentinoned on TV you will have your good days and bad. But my faith got me through it, and only with the Dear Lord did I make it. You will be in my prayers and thoughts.
