PS3 and Xbox 360 cross platform online gaming

PS3 and Xbox 360

There is an idea to figure out who is the king of the consoles, PS3 and Xbox 360 cross platform online gaming tournaments. The way this would work is say 4 or 5 times a year Microsoft and Sony should bang their heads together to create online gaming tournaments between the Xbox 360 gamers and the Playstation 3 gamers.

Obviously there would be a tiny fee to enter the cross platform online gaming tournaments, and at the end of the gaming between these two platforms they can tally up who are better at games. They could even have an online debating competition where people talk online of which everything is recorded on how they feel about the PS3 and the 360.

To have both platforms joining together online would make everyone so happy it is unreal.

Do you think Sony and Microsoft should have PS3 and Xbox 360 cross platform online gaming?

This would be awesome from a gamer’s standpoint, but I don’t think the ‘king of consoles’ will be decided by the gaming community, more so than by console sales and quality of software titles. It would be great for gamers though; but the bigger the gaming industry becomes, gamers take a backseat to the bottom line. So yes, I think they should have it, but under what circumstances would it actually occur? After all, it was only a matter of weeks ago when the gaming community was shut out of E3.

    YEAH!!!

That way Sony fans can tell facts, and shut up Microsoft fans from believing that they even have a chance against us.

    HAHAHA!!!

I am all for it. It what I have been saying to myself since I got into the online gaming. Then there would not be this stupid chatter about who is better. But cross platform gaming would cause a conflict about which system you are going to buy. If that were ever to be the case I would go with XBOX 360 or Windows Live as you really don’t have to buy a console to have great games. Lets face it I believe a computer is more important then a Game console. So in the future my next computer purchae will be a kick ass computer that has gaming ability and I’ll have it all in one.

well what about the fact the PS3 has way less precise controller due to the bad design of the thumbsticks, it wouldn’t be fair and us 360 gamers would have to deal with everyone having no mics and bad lag!

  • mitchell

I mean just try and imagine playing halo 3 on live with a ps3 controller, ud be gettin fucked in the ass every 10 seconds

  • Kenny

    to mitchell

the ps3 controller is better for fps games and ps3 has zero lag and it does have mics

  • iconicwolf

well i think they just need to combine anyway. Why have 3 consoles? Lets just have one. Price it at $800.00 then there would not even be no need in fanboys anymore. That way we can have the best from all three worlds sony microsoft and nintendo i think it work. what do you guys think

  • harry

how are the 360 controllers any better? its the same design as the ps3 controller but with the dpad and joystick switched, but overall no less or more precise.

YES THAT WOULD A BIG JUMP IN GAMING…IT WOULD CHANGE THE FACE OF VIDEO GAMES LIKE 3D DID WITH GAMING….

  • Jamin

Ummm as cool as that duz sound, First of all 2 Iconicwolf, That would be no fun cuz there wuld be no friendly competition man thats wat its all about arguin wid the other side! =D

and about online well, that would seem pointless because its like joining sides really, surely wouldnt happen?

  • wert

    @iconicwolf

Heh heh. Combine them ey? Leave Nintendo to the innovation, Sony to manufacture the hardware, and Microsoft to design the software (which is what they should have stuck to, god damn it!). Great, but it’ll never happen.

  • mitchell

acually the PS3 controller is much less precise due to when you move the stick it has very little resistance making it very sloppy and it isnt indented. yes the controller is much worse for FPS’s anyone who plays i would smash halo 2 if i had to play it with a PS controller and get owned every 5 seconds. Oh and look at a couple things about the top 10 controllers of all time, 360 always gets first due to performance.

    Michell,
RFOM IS CURRENTLY Sony’s number one console mover; Why?
because we are playing it!!!! there are no accuarcy issues that I can see, just freakin fun…………..This is true for many game( not all) but even the MS console cant accurate for all games, it depends on video game maker as well………

  • tehGuy

I agree, cross-platform gaming would be a beautiful thing.

But, iconicwolf, combining all 3 consoles would be a bad thing. Why? Well, no more friendly competition, therefor nothing left to push the gaming industry further. The only reason it progresses is because of the competition. That’s what makes the game industry go ’round.

Yeah xbox 360 is more popular with first person shooters so I can just see XBOX 360 players smash the PS3 players in a first person shooter game. I dunno about 3rd person or 2nd person but 1st person XBOX 360 will take it BY FAR.

PS3 has alot of 3rd person shooters so i dunno about that. There are like 3 times as much XBOX LIVE players than there are PS3 online.

Personally the only game I see that is actually good for PS3 is KILLZONE 2. Resistance was a disappointment its fkin whack. Halo3 still has the best MULTIPLAYER. It is said that Resistance is unworthy of carrying GoW2′s jock straps hahahah. 360 will smash ps3 without a doubt.

I agree there is a lack of fps in the ps3, but that only means that the people who play them are really epic at them. i have played COD4 with both 360 and ps3 controllers, and have felt that the only difference is the switched d-pad and analog stick. if there is any lag between them, then it's below 1. also what ps3 lacks in fps they make up with rpg's. i personally prefer ps3 because i was raised on ps3, both systems have their own good and bad points. ps3 if it gets too hot, it freezes, and with the 360 it gets the red ring, but they can easily send it to microsoft to get it fixed for free. as for cross platform gaming, that would be a very good idea. Microsoft and sony would join together to make a few cross platform games so they could vs each other. i personally think a halo platform crossover would be really good, especially since final fantasy went over to 360, i think it's only fair :p. anyways, other games that are already out would make for supurb cross platform online play, like M.A.G. that would be freaking amazing. it would be a pretty much real ps3/360 war. if microsoft and sony would stop being so stubborn and agree to do this with at least a few games, then they would make so much money off of it.

Xbox was a copy of Playstation, they came out with something that already existed and didn't even make it any better. At least Nintendo is original and makes things that aren't already being made by someone else.

  • DrKcaey

I think depending on the player our fingers will get used to the controller. The egonomics of the controller wouldn't matter much I think.. cause Im sure I can react as fast as my friend who played xbox the same year as I do as long as I choose PS3 to be myy perfect fit in the first place. Am I right? <:)

  • Ryan

Don't be stupid. Microsoft can kick your ass Sony!
