Mercedes BLK Baby Merc vs. BMW 1-Series: What’s the better luxury compact?
July 31, 2007 | Filed under Autos, Coupe Cars, Hatchback Cars

The BMW 1-series has already proven how good it is in the compact luxury segment, and the small BMW has not even hit the US market yet. But the Series 1 BMW could be facing some stiff competition in the form of the new Mercedes BLK.

The baby Merc has been based on the C-Class, it will come in three body types, coupe, hatch, and convertible. The engines that the BLK will use, will come from the C-Class, and will go up to the smooth 3.5Ltr V6. The new Mercedes BLK is expected to be available in 2011.
I for one think that this new Baby Merc looks far better than the BMW 1-Series.

Being that I own a BMW I would say BMW is the better choice for performance and handelling.
We’re all very impressed that you own a BMW, Charles.
A small Merc hatchback with arm chair front seat comfort, plus 1800cc engine would, I’m sure, find a mass market in the over sixty year olds who have pension payouts due etc.,
