Keira Knightley to Star in Period Drama ‘The Dutchess’

Keira Knightley has been a busy lady recently but still has time to go all ladylike on us. She has confirmed that she will play 18th century aristocrat Lady Georgiana Spencer, the fifth Duchess of Devonshire and ancestor to the late Lady Diana Spencer, in “The Duchess” by Saul Dibb for Pathe and BBC Films.

Based on the best-selling biography from Amanda Foreman, the film will see Keira as Georgiana, who lived an extravagant and somewhat promiscuous lifestyle of gambling, romance and political intrigue.

This film we see Keira at her best. Her period acting is among the best in the business so it’s good that she’s taken a break from being a Pirate to show us what she’s really made of.

Jeffrey Hatcher penned the script and shooting will begin in October.
